About the Artist

"In her nearly two decades of experience, Ximena Ameri's outstanding multidisciplinary career has been grounded in the body: dance theater in the wake of Pina Bausch, directing and organizing stage projects, both individual and collaborative in prestigious companies such as Yuyachkani and Íntegro in Peru, and performances with choreographers and directors such as Alfredo Zinola and Samir Akika in Germany. Ameri has a special spontaneity and versatility that allows her to modulate each of her registers very well: she has also explored pantomime, action art, and pedagogy, designing and developing projects related to autobiographical themes, interpersonal relationships, her own affections and injuries, as well as the female and migrant condition, which is also her own condition, that has enabled her to live in several countries, have different statuses, and function in several languages.

With studies at the Pontifical Catholic University in Lima (Peru), the Dalcroze Institute in Brussels, the Folkwang Universität der Kunste and the Ruhr Universität Bochum, the projects she has been involved in reflect professional experimentation and inquiry in which diverse sources contribute to a greater feat: turning her talent into a presence of creation and co-creation of different worlds that speak to us of our own."
